zo-eè was established in 2005 by Karen Mustica following her mother’s diagnosis of MND. Having never heard of MND and been told there was no treatment or cure to this fatal disease, Karen decided to make a stand to place MND on the health map and agenda of the community and health professionals alike.
zo-eè is a committee of volunteers dedicated to raising awareness and funds for research into MND by organizing events such as Motor On cocktail parties, Giddy Up trivia nights and La Premier movie nights.
zo-eè is committed to supporting MND Association of Victoria. To date, zo-eè has donated over $50,000 to MNDAV for research grant purposes.
This year, the zo-eé MND Research Grant was awarded to Dr Julie Atkin, from the Howard Florey Institute, University of Melbourne. Julie heads a team of researchers who are working to understand the mechanism of MND and cell death. Her project is entitled "Is endoplasmic reticulum stress primarily responsible for cell death in MND?"
